Wedding season means back-to-back functions and the eternal question: what jewellery goes with what? This festive jewellery guide keeps it simple.
Haldi
Keep it light and playful. Floral or pearl pieces, small jhumkas and colourful glass bangles are perfect — and you won’t worry about turmeric stains on heavy sets.
Mehendi
Go bohemian: oxidised jhumkas, layered anklets and a statement ring on the hand that isn’t covered in mehendi. Mirror-work potli bags complete the look.
Sangeet
This is the night for drama. Statement danglers or chandbalis, a sparkly cocktail ring and minimal necklace work if you’re dancing all night.
Wedding day and reception
Kundan choker sets, maang tikkas and coordinated bangles bring the traditional glamour. Pick one hero piece — usually the neckpiece — and keep the rest in the same tone.
Quick matching rules
- Heavy embroidered necklines: skip the necklace, go big on earrings.
- Plain or deep necklines: a choker or layered necklace shines.
- Gold zari outfits pair with kundan and gold tone; pastel chikankari pairs with pearls and silver.
Pack smart
Carry each set in its own pouch, keep a small pouch of spare earring backs, and put jewellery on after perfume. Happy celebrating!
